Santa Rosa healthcare professionals need AHA training that works around demanding schedules—not the other way around. Safety Training Seminars, located at 825 College Ave #3 in downtown Santa Rosa, now offers Self-Guided Learning™ courses for BLS, ACLS, and PALS through the American Heart Association®. You complete the online portion on your own time, then verify your skills locally. No fixed class times. No group schedules. Just efficient, flexible training that fits your life.
Here’s exactly how it works—and why Santa Rosa clinicians are choosing this approach.
Self-Guided Learning™ is a course-based learning approach from the American Heart Association that combines two independent components:
Learners complete both components independently. Upon successful completion, they receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard for BLS, ACLS, or PALS. The specific Self-Guided Learning course for these pathways is called HeartCode® Complete.*
The model differs from traditional classroom learning and blended learning, which both require a scheduled, instructor-led component. Self-Guided Learning removes that dependency entirely.
HeartCode® is a trademark of the American Heart Association.
The Sonoma County healthcare community runs on rotating shifts and tight staffing. Professionals working at Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital (1165 Montgomery Dr), Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa Medical Center (401 Bicentennial Way), or Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital (30 Mark West Springs Rd) often struggle to block off a full day for classroom-based training.
Self-Guided Learning courses are designed for:
If you work in Santa Rosa’s healthcare sector, this format removes the biggest barrier to staying current with your AHA training requirements.
The cognitive portion of a Self-Guided Learning course uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This technology continuously assesses your knowledge and confidence, then adjusts the content path in real time.
In practice, that means you spend less time on topics you already know and more time on areas where you need reinforcement. The result is a personalized, competency-focused learning experience—not a one-size-fits-all lecture.
Course lengths for the online portion:
You can complete it from your couch near Howarth Park, during a break between shifts, or from a coffee shop near Railroad Square. The platform works on desktops, laptops, and tablets. You set the pace.
One important note: completing the online learning activity alone does not result in an AHA Course Completion eCard. You must also complete the skills session.
After finishing the online course, you schedule your hands-on skills session at the CPR Verification Station™ learning center at Safety Training Seminars, 825 College Ave #3, Santa Rosa, CA 95404—conveniently located at the corner of College Ave and Beaver St.
During this session, you perform required psychomotor skills—chest compressions, ventilations, AED use, and advanced techniques depending on your course level. The CPR Verification Station learning center provides real-time, objective audiovisual feedback measured against AHA-defined criteria.
There is no live instructor during this session. You complete skills independently and can repeat practice as needed until you achieve a passing score. The technology does the evaluation—objectively and consistently.
Skills session durations:
The location is accessible from Highway 101 and offers parking on-site. Safety Training Seminars operates Monday through Sunday, 8 AM to 10 PM, so scheduling around a hospital shift or a morning walk near Spring Lake Regional Park is genuinely manageable.
Once you successfully complete both the online learning activity and the self-guided skills session, you receive your American Heart Association Course Completion eCard—the same day.
This eCard serves as official verification of successful BLS, ACLS, or PALS training completion. It meets AHA training requirements and is accepted by employers, hospitals, and licensing agencies nationwide. Cards are valid for two years.
Safety Training Seminars has operated as an American Heart Association Training Center (ATC #20784) since 1989. The Santa Rosa Downtown location at 825 College Ave #3 is one of two Santa Rosa offices—the other sits at 4863 Old Redwood Hwy, Suite J, in the Larkfield-Wikiup area.
Key facts about the program:
The Self-Guided Learning approach also benefits organizations. Fewer cancelled classes, reduced instructor scheduling constraints, and more consistent training outcomes across large medical teams—all valuable for the hospital systems and clinics serving Sonoma County.
The learner journey follows five clear steps:
That’s the full pathway. No full-day classroom commitment. No waiting on an instructor’s calendar.
Healthcare professionals in Santa Rosa no longer need to choose between staying AHA-compliant and managing a demanding schedule. Self-Guided Learning™ courses from Safety Training Seminars deliver the flexibility of online learning with the rigor of objective, hands-on skills verification—right here in Santa Rosa.
